Every day, we take in nearly 3,000 gallons of air. While the lion’s share of it is made up of basic, life-sustaining elements, like nitrogen and oxygen, potentially dangerous particles seep into the environment from both natural and manmade sources.

These substances, from cigarette smoke and pet dander to mold and pollen, are of special concern indoors. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that indoor air pollution levels are up to five times higher than those outdoors.
